A Historic Lighthouse
Here at the Escape, we are pleased to announce that we are presenting you with the same team from our well established Sea Kayak Company of Adventures Newfoundland. During our years of offering Sea Kayaking tours in the Bay of Exploits, Newfoundland, we were presented with the opportunity to develop the lighthouse premises on Exploits Island into a tourist establishment. The property had been decommissioned by the Canadian Coast Guard and signed over to the municipality of Lewisporte for Development. In 2008, Adventures Newfoundland( formerly Canoe Hill Adventures) obtained a long term lease for the premises and due to 5 years of inoccupation and exposure to elements offered by the North Atlantic , the arduous process of bringing the Light Keepers residence back to life began.
So here we are, ready to offer you experiences that you won’t soon forget, on a remote and historic island located at the headlands of the Bay of Exploits on the rugged North East Coast of Newfoundland.
Newfoundland and Labrador has become a popular tourist destination. The government’s promotion and television commercials are spectacular and award winning, focusing on our magnificent scenery, natural history, and our colorful and very diverse culture. Who better to ensure that you get the full experience that you desire than a local company! We have lived the stories, we have the accents, we were raised on the traditional cuisine such as Fish and Brewis, Jigs Dinner, Pea Soup and where a “Boil Up “was (and still is) nearly as common as eating to your kitchen table. A lifetime of living and working in the outdoors has given us an intricate knowledge of our little corner of the world that we would love to share with you.
Whether you choose one of our experiential packages or just want to come and relax, we are committed to ensuring that you get what you came for while being comfortable and safe.
